Fairfield County Courthouse  

Location: Congress Street

Hours: 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. Monday - Friday

The Fairfield County Courthouse was designed by Robert Mills and built in 1823.  Large columns were added later, and the circular stairs were added in 1939 when the building under-went extensive renovation.  Early county records beginning in 1785, are indexed in the Clerk of Court’s office, and actual records from 1870 are in the Clerk of Court’s office.  The courtroom is located on the second floor of the courthouse. 

County offices in the courthouse are: Auditor, Building and Zoning Office, Circuit Court Judge, Clerk of Court, Judge of Probate, Treasurer, Tax Collector, Tax Assessor, Voter Registration, Juvenile Justice Department, and Attorney’s Office.

 

Fairfield County Governmental Complex 

Location: 350 Columbia Road

Entrance from Columbia Road ( Fifth Street)

Hours: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday

All offices: (803) 635-1415 

County Council meetings are held in council chambers on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m.  

County offices in the Governmental Complex are: County Administrator

Finance Director, Purchasing Director, Human Resource Director, Clerk to Council

Emergency Management,  Data Processing, Council Members’ Offices,  JTPA Office, Fairfield County Fire Marshall and Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department

 

South Carolina Department of Probation and Parole  

Location: 117 East Washington Street

Fairfield County Magistrate Office Building 

Location: 115 Congress Street

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. , Monday - Friday

Magistrate Office: (803) 635-4525

County offices in the Magistrate office building are: Family Court, Family Court Judge, Magistrate Judge and Magistrate Court.  

The Fairfield Planning Commission meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Magistrate office Building.

 

Winnsboro Town Hall 

Location: North Congress Street

Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday

Utility payments accepted 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3p.m. to 5 p.m.

All offices: (803) 635-4041 

Winnsboro Town Hall is located in the historic Obear - Williford House. 

 The impressive three-story house was built by David Campbell and purchased in 1856 by the Rev. Josiah Obear, rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church.  Obear opened a school for girls in the house and continued to operate the school during the Civil War.  Obear also sheltered many refugees during the last months of the war.  These times are included in “Through The Years in Old Winnsboro, “written by Obear’s daughter, Miss Kate Obear. 

Town offices in the Town Hall are:  Town Manager, Utilities Customer Service, Electrical Department, Gas, Water and Sewer Department, Finance and Town Clerk, Personnel Director, Building Inspector and Community Development Director.  

Winnsboro Town Council meetings are held in council chambers at Town Hall the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:15 p.m.

 

Ridgeway Town Hall 

Location: Church Street

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays

All offices: (803) 337-2213 

Payment of water bills, police citation, business licenses and building permits accepted. 

Ridgeway Town Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Ridgeway Town Hall.  

Ridgeway Planning Commission meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Ridgeway Town Hall. 

 

Blythewood Town Hall 

Location: 509 Main Street

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 P.m., Monday - Friday

All offices: (803) 754-0501 

Blythewood Town Council meets the last Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Blythewood Community Center on Blythewood Road. 

Blythewood Planning Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Blythewood Community Center.
