The
Fairfield County Courthouse was designed by Robert Mills and built in 1823.
Large columns were added later, and the circular stairs were added in
1939 when the building under-went extensive renovation.
Early county records beginning in 1785, are indexed in the Clerk of
Courts office, and actual records from 1870 are in the Clerk of Courts
office. The courtroom is located
on the second floor of the courthouse.
County
offices in the courthouse are: Auditor, Building and Zoning Office, Circuit
Court Judge, Clerk of Court, Judge of Probate, Treasurer, Tax Collector, Tax
Assessor, Voter Registration, Juvenile Justice Department, and Attorneys
Office.

Winnsboro
Town Hall is located in the historic Obear - Williford House.
The
impressive three-story house was built by David Campbell and purchased in 1856
by the Rev. Josiah Obear, rector of St. Johns Episcopal Church.
Obear opened a school for girls in the house and continued to operate
the school during the Civil War. Obear
also sheltered many refugees during the last months of the war.

Town

Sewer Department, Finance and Town Clerk, Personnel Director, Building
