Lake Monticello

Lake Monticello
Located off Highway 215, Lake Monticello offers fishing, boating and other water recreational activities. The Fairfield County Recreation Commission has a park at the lake. Boat ramps are on the lake. Information on that area of the lake is available by telephoning 635-9114.

Lake Wateree State Park

Wateree Home Owners Association of Fairfield County is a non-profit
organization made up of citizens dedicated to maintaining this invaluable
environmental resource, Lake Wateree.

This 238-acre park is located on Lake Wateree, one of South Carolina's premier fishing lakes, with over 13,000 acres and 190 miles of shoreline. The dam was completed in 1919, making it one of the oldest lakes in the state. The park provides a habitat for many species of

wildlife, with an abundance of whitetail deer, gray squirrels, raccoons, oppossums, wild turkey and various species of birds, including egrets, blue herons and mallard and wood ducks. A large oak tree in the picnic area dates back over 100 years. Campers and fishermen enjoy the convenient access from I-77.
